Disney Special Christmas TV Event

I am so in love with this trailer of Disney's new project. Disney made this exclusive animated special for ABC called Prep and Landing. I know it's not a movie but a special TV event, but let's think of it as a mini movie... Just watch the damn trailer:

Two weeks before Christmas we always get the Christmas TV guide. Then my mom and I cirkel everything we want to watch and make a schedule that plans out our evenings completely. We watch this, and tape that etc. I would love to see this Disney special on TV but unfortunately God was so cruel as to have me be born in Holland instead of the USA. I'm gonna try to catch it on the internet though!

The Magic of Ordinary Days (2005)

Oh my god dear readers, have I got a must-watch-tip for you! It's a period film called "The Magic Of Ordinary Days". When I started watching this movie I wasn't really sure what to expect. But after watching it, one thing was certain: this movie turned out way beyond my expectations. The story is about Livy who gets pregnant out of wedlock. As a punishment, her father sends her off to marry a farmer named Ray Singleton. Ray turns out really sweet, but Livy has trouble adjusting to a quiet country life and is unable to forget the man she really loves.

Ray Singleton is played by Skeet Ulrich, an actor I've never heard of before I saw this, but whom I really enjoyed. He played this part extremely well. I also have a weakness for Keri Russell, I think she is quite talented.

Watch this movie when you need to watch a feel good movie because, trust me, you'll be smiling constantly. As I caught myself doing every 2 minutes. A wonderful movie full of love and hope. Just..., just watch it! You'll know what I mean!

The Twilight Saga: New Moon - Review

For teenagers whose movie knowledge only reaches up to Mean Girls it's OK, but don't watch it when you know a good movie from a bad one.

I got dragged to this movie by my friend who is sort of a fan. I downloaded the first movie and thought it was horrible. New Moon was a bit better, but still not in let's say Harry Potter's league. You read on the internet and papers that the chemistry between Robert and Kristen is so good. It's not. I haven't seen a single emotion on Kristen Stewarts' face the whole movie. Pattinson mumbles in a way that is hard to understand. Only the smaller parts were OK, Ashley Green did a good job and so did the rest of the Cullens. Bella's friends were also fine. Taylor Lautner had a tendency to overact, but was also believable.

From the trailer I gathered that the first movie was sort of like the introduction and this movie would be faster and more action and more emotion. Boy was I wrong. It's just as slow as the first one and the action was, well, nothing. The Vulturi fight looked amazing in the trailer, but don't be fooled! Everything you saw of the fight in the trailer (6 seconds) was what's in the movie.

Me and my friend just couldn't get over the fact that Bella is such a bad example for teenage girls! She gets dumped incredibly rudely by a (in my opinion not so attractive) vampire who leaves her and all she can do for months is cry and cry and cry and shout in her sleep. We were like: Hello! the guy is a jerk, get over it! But unfortunately she didn't. She also gets extremely suicidal over her 'loss' and does extremely dangerous things because then she 'sees Edward again'. That was really pathetic. I haven't read any of the books but that was the worst storyline ever. You already expect us to believe in vampires, but I will not cross the line of fantasy in believing that she can see him when she breaks her promise.

Good stuff, was the wolves. I really liked the gang of wolfs, the interaction between them, the friendly ways. The transforming was also done great. I would have liked to see more of them instead of Bella's mourning.

I just have to say one more thing about this vision of Alice of the future. Why o why did they show Edward and Bella dressed in, I don't know, middle-ages clothing and jumping around in the woods? The WHOLE theater was laughing at them. Not good.

When you like the books, sure go and see it. When you like vampires, go see it. When you like Taylor Lautner, go see it (that's why I went). But don't expect quality in this movie. You'll only be disappointed.

People Magazine Sexiest Man Alive

is.... Johnny Depp!!

My alltime favorite Johnny Depp has beaten a lot of 20 something boys like Robert Pattinson and Chace Crawford and is number one on the People Magazine Sexiest Man Alive list. He proved that his Jack Sparrow charm is still kicking, because this is his second time! There are only two other actors who have won twice, Brad Pitt and George Clooney, so this is a very elite group. I also wouldn't mind getting out the message that we would like to see this group in a movie together. His upcoming movie is Alice in Wonderland: I'm sure the Mad Hatter has never been sexier...

He won't also be the Sexiest Man alive this year. According to every magazine Johnny is still on for a fourth installment of POTC and gets 30 million for doing this fourth movie. That also makes him the highest paid actor of all time.

So the only thing left for him is to finally win an Academy Award!

The choice for him as Sexiest Man Alive is explained by the editor: “The thing about Johnny is he has proven his sexiness over the years,” She said he was the only actor who “can pull off the sexiness” behind such bizarre characters as Willie Wonka and the Mad Hatter.

Slow week, so a music video for you guys

I'm sorry to report that there's been no particularly fascinating movie news that I have been able to share with you! So why am I writing? Just because I discovered this awesome music video from the remake of Fame (one of my friends went to see it and said it was just great - so don't mind the critics) and I wanted to share it with you!

Here goes:

The Time Traveler's Wife

A friend of mine showed me the trailer of The Time Traveler's Wife a while ago and it seemed like a great movie. Back then it was still far away, but not anymore: it will be in cinemas by november 12th.

The Story: Henry DeTamble (Eric Bana) seems an ordinary man with an ordinary job. He works in a library in Chicago, but he suffers from a weird illness: against his will he travels through time. Of course that is difficult for his job and social life: in the present as well as in the past.
During one of his travels Henry meets the beautiful Clare (Rachel McAdams). She recognizes him as her true love and they work hard to maintain their relationship. It's difficult however to do that with Henry travelling to the pas occassionally before he gets back to her after an unknown period of time.

Yes it does remind you of Benjamin Button. Some say it's a better version, others say worse. I haven't seen it so I have no idea, but one thing is certain: this can be an entertaining  movie if you let it.
Critics say that it is hard to get sometimes. Some things just don't make sense and they get stuck in your head for at least three days after you've seen it. Thank god for all those (weird) guys who  make websites entirely devoted to this stuff.

And here's the trailer:

POTC: On Stranger Tides

As many Pirates of the Caribbean fans will know, the title of the fourth installment of  has been released on September 11, 2009. It's called On Stranger Tides and was revealed by Johnny Depp in character as Jack Sparrow at disney's D23 Expo. Disney's head of Production Oren Aviv said that this would hopefully be the first of another trilogy. He also said that Disney had chosen to scale this movie down from the former series: "It's important to get the story right and it's important to me to scale it down, because we can't get bigger. The movies have subsequently gotten bigger and bigger and very complicated and they were satisfying on so many levels obviously, but I want to kind of reboot the whole thing and bring it down to its core, its essence, just characters." He agreed that there is a lot of Captain Jack Sparrow's background that we haven't seen yet without confirming or denying that we might see some of that in the fourth movie.

We also know for sure that Johnny Depp will star in this: he agreed to star in this "before there was a script or anything."At one point it was rumoured that Russell Brand and Zac Efron would also star, but that has never been confirmed.

The story hasn't been made public yet. Tim Powers have stated that the movie is inspired on his book, On Stranger Tides. This book is about a pirate named Jack, who is searching for the Fountain Of Youth. We also get a glimpse of this at the end of the third film, POTC: At World's End when Jack Sparrow is looking at a symbol of the Aqua De Vida on a map.
